Terms of service

These terms apply when you use kodwai: kodwai.com, app.kodwai.com, the kodwai API, the kodwai CLI and the kodwai plugin for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. kodwai is run by Ege Hakan Karaağaç (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using kodwai, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use kodwai.

• You must be at least 16 to use kodwai.
• Give a real email address, and keep your password and sign-in tokens to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
• One account per person. Don’t share accounts or make extra ones to get more free runs or better standings.
• Your username is public. Don’t pick one that impersonates someone or is offensive; we may change it if you do.

kodwai scores how well you direct an AI agent. Using an agent is the point. What isn’t allowed:

• Editing, faking or stitching together agent transcripts, or tampering with the CLI, the plugin or what they upload, to change your score.
• Submitting someone else’s work as yours, or having someone else steer the agent for you on a ranked run.
• Sharing or publishing a challenge’s hidden problem details, tests or traps.
• Probing, overloading or attacking kodwai, or reading data that isn’t yours.

If we find cheating or abuse, we may remove runs, reset standings, or suspend or close the account. We’ll tell you why, and you can reply to dispute it.

Scores, ratings, tiers, badges and leagues come from an automated judge, including an AI model, and come with a confidence level. They’re an honest estimate, not a certification, and they can be wrong. We improve the scoring over time, so we may rescore runs, recalibrate ratings or change how points work. Rewards like XP, badges and league placements have no cash value.

You keep ownership of the code, transcripts, profile content and feedback you submit. You give us a license to store, process and analyze them to run kodwai: to score your runs, show your results, keep leaderboards, and improve the scoring. You also let us show the public parts described in the privacy policy, such as your profile, standings and share links you create.

Only submit what you have the right to submit. Don’t put secrets, other people’s personal data or confidential code in a challenge folder.

The challenges, problem statements, tests, rubrics, scoring system, site and app are ours. You can use a challenge’s starter code in your own run and keep your own solution.

• Each developer account gets a small number of free scored runs on our Anthropic key. We may change that number or end the free tier.
• After that, you can add your own Anthropic API key. We use it only to score your own runs, and the usage is billed to your Anthropic account under Anthropic’s terms.
• You can remove your key at any time.

The kodwai CLI (github.com/kodwai/cli) and the kodwai plugin (github.com/kodwai/plugin) are published under their own licenses, which apply to the software itself. These terms apply to using them with kodwai. They run on your machine and only upload what the privacy policy describes, when you run or approve a command.

Companies using kodwai for interviews may have a separate agreement with us, which takes priority over these terms for that use. Candidates invited to a session use kodwai under these terms, and the inviting company decides how it uses the results.

kodwai is a young product. We add, change and remove features, challenges and limits, and the service may sometimes be down. We try to give notice of changes that matter to you, but we can’t promise kodwai will always be available or stay the same.

You can stop using kodwai at any time, and ask us to delete your account at hakan@kodwai.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put kodwai or its users at risk. The sections on content licenses you’ve already granted for public results, disclaimers and liability survive the end of your account.

kodwai is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t guarantee that scores are accurate, that the service is error-free, or that it fits a particular purpose, such as a hiring decision.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, lost profits, or charges on your own AI provider accounts. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 50 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using kodwai after that, the new terms apply.
